What makes Latina women special? Their quirks! Take a look at this list we gathered for you:

1. Copious displays of public affection

One could bump into at least a pair of overly affectionate Latino lovers, be it at the corner of a coffee place, in a plaza, or a crowded bus. In general, romance is within Latin Americans’ DNA — they love to love. Research even supports this claim.

Early development and parenting studies suggest that Hispanic mothers are more affectionate and have more skin-to-skin intact with their infants than Anglo mothers. As a result, children tend to be more “clingy” — for lack of better words — towards their friends and lovers.

2. Latina Standard Time

Latina women like to run on LTS (Latina Standard Time) when meeting friends or family. They typically arrive a few minutes after the schedule.

If you go out with a Latina date or friend for dinner or coffee, it’s always wise to have them meet you minutes before the rendezvous. While this is just another generalization about Latina women, do this just in case they hit the stereotype.

3. Jealous

Latina women get jealous very easily, and they are pretty much straight up about it. They don’t try to be passive-aggressive about it either. Some think it may stem from their love of telenovelas.

4. Hot-tempered

Latina can also be fiery and hot-tempered. This attitude may stem from patriarchy — where women are constantly told what to do — and women repressing age-old norms and rules.

Nonetheless, after years of melodramatic TV shows, Latinxs have made the exaggerated expressions on it into their own trademark.

5. Have great rhythm

Many Latinas like to dance, even when there’s no music — others dance while cleaning or cooking.

Dancing is part of Latina women’s everyday routine, especially the elders. For many Latinas, great dancers are the ones who are confident enough to move their stiff bodies. Although they can’t swing their hips or sway their hands like other talented dancers, they have great rhythm and know some great moves!
